Map of Indianapolis Motor SpeedwayInfield Parking & Lot 7 (North 40)
Known as the "North 40". It is on the north side of the track, accessible from 30th Street. It is a large grassy field where you can park for free. It is one-day parking only and no RV's. There are shuttles that will run people from the North 40 into the infield of the track and take you all the way up to the other end of the track. Very limited free parking on days of track activity for automobiles only during oval events. During MotoGP a small number of motorcycles will be parked in the south end of the North 40.

  • Specific Policies
    • Limited free parking on days of track activity.
    • Camping of any kind is not allowed.
    • Trucks larger than one ton are not permitted to enter the infield. Camper shells may not exceed cab height by more than 12 inches.
    • No box trucks or box trailers are permitted.
    • Vans larger than 15-passenger are not permitted on the grounds unless prior authorization has been received by the safety office.
    • There is no public motor home or RV parking on the infield.
    • Buses are not permitted in the infield without prior authorization from the safety office.
    • Limousines and taxis are not allowed to park in the infield without prior authorization from the safety office. Such vehicles are allowed to enter Gate 2 to drop off and pick up passengers in front of the museum on practice days only.
    • At all times, vehicles on IMS property shall be operated in a safe, courteous manner, based on current conditions, at speeds not to exceed 20 mph.
    • IMS is not responsible for damage or personal injury caused by or to vehicles that are not owned or operated by IMS or its authorized representatives.
  • Hours of Operation - based on gate opening time for the day of activity.
  • Surface - grass

Motorcycle Parking
  • Guests with motorcycles during oval events are permitted to enter Gate 2 and proceed directly to the motorcycle lot located behind the South Terrance Grandstand. Free inflield motorcycle parking will be offered for the MotoGP event weekend, information will be given later.
  • Mopeds and scooters are not permitted on the Speedway premises without IMS permission. Mopeds or scooters used to transport guests to and from the premises shall be treated the same as motorcycles.
  • At all times, vehicles on IMS property shall be operated in a safe, courteous manner, based on current conditions, at speeds not to exceed 20 mph.
  • IMS is not responsible for damage or personal injury caused by or to vehicles that are not owned or operated by IMS or its authorized representatives.
  • All motorcycles used in any of the outside paid parking lots must have an automobile pass for the duration of their stay.

Outside Paid Parking Disabled Procedure
Disabled parking in the outside parking lots is available in the lots listed below. Along with a daily parking pass for the lot in which you would like to park each customer must have a state issued disabled hangtag or license plate on/in their vehicle. The disabled areas will be filled on a first come first serve basis for those that have the appropriate passes. At the point in which the disabled area is full all vehicles with daily parking passes will be parked together.

  • Daily Disabled Parking will be available in the following lots:
    • Lot 1B
    • Lot 2
    • Lot 3 Pavement (although daily parking is not permitted on the pavement otherwise; any Lot 3 Grass auto pass accompanied with a state issued disabled tag will be granted a disabled space in the front of the lot assuming the area isn't full)
    • Hall of Fame Museum (inside Gate 2) - this parking is on the inside of the facility and is on a first come first serve basis. No additional parking pass issued by IMS is required for this lot.

Lot 1B
Located on Georgetown Road just south of 30th Street, with the entrances all along the lot to be opened as the lot fills.

  • Space Size Specifications
    • Daily vehicle spaces are approximately 10'x20'
  • Specific Lot Policies
    • No overnight parking or camping is a permitted.
    • Any decision interpreting or enforcing these policies is at the discretion of IMS.
  • Hours of Operation - daily parking only
    • Daily Vehicles - Day of Applicable Pass - 7am-7pm (Thu-Sat), 5am-7pm (Race Day)
  • Surface - grass

Guest Tram
Tram service is offered to guests of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from the time that public gates open until approximately 6:30 pm.


Exiting the Race
Take in to consideration the number of people attending the event. Obviously the more people and cars, the longer it will take you to get home. Also, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, which will aid in getting everyone home quicker


From the North

  • Take 1-465 South
  • Exit East on to 38th Street
  • Turn South (right) on to Moller Road
  • Turn East (left) on to 30th Street
  • Turn South (right) on to Georgetown Road
  • IMS will be on your left

From the South

  • Take I-465 North
  • Exit east onto Crawfordsville Road (exit 16A)
  • Follow Crawfordsville Road east on to 16th street
  • IMS will be on your left

From the East

  • Take I-70 W
  • Exit north on to Holt Road
  • Turn west (left) on to 16th street
  • IMS will be on you right

From the West

  • Take I-70 E
  • Exit north onto I-465 N
  • Exit east onto Crawfordsville Road (exit 16A)
  • Follow Crawfordsville Road East to 16th Street
  • IMS will be on your left
